Mike Stevens – Florida Schools
FROM THE WORLD GOLF TEACHERS TOP 60 PUBLICATION
Few instructors in the World Golf Teachers Federation, and for that matter, the entire teaching industry, have the qualifications of Mike Stevens. He is one of those guys who does everything well – playing, teaching, writing, business acumen – that it would be easy to envy him, except that he’s a genuinely fine human being, as well.
He began his teaching career in Tampa as the junior golf instructor at MacDill Air Force Base in 1996. In 1997, he expanded his operation to include adults by opening a division of the Guaranteed Golf School at three locations. Since 2000, he has been recognized as one of Florida’s top 10 instructors by Florida Golf News. Mike started the On Target Golf School in Tampa in 2008 and now operates at 7 locations in the Tampa Bay area.
Playing-wise, Mike is a regular participant at United States Golf Teachers and World Golf Teachers tournaments. He is the 2004 USGTF Senior National Champion. He is also one of the finest hickory shaft players in the nation and won the 2005 National Hickory Championship. Prior to this he won two regional championships and finished second in the National Tournament three times.
He is also an acomplished writer, having had his work appear in national publications, including Golf Teaching Pro magazine.
In the year 1998 at the World Golf Teachers Cup at the San Roque Club in Spain, Mike vaulted Team USA to victory in a sudden death play-off against Team Europe. Mike’s success as a player, despite his heavy work schedule, is a testament to his deep understanding of our great game.
